Walsall man dies after diving into river to save his daughter

A man from Walsall has died after diving into a river to save his daughter in Cumbria.

Dean John Price, aged 32, from Bloxwich, got into difficulty in the waters near Longtown Bridge.

He had jumped in to save his daughter who was rescued by an off duty fireman at around 4.15pm a week last Tuesday.

An eight hour search was carried out by firefighters, police, mountain and water rescue teams until his body was recovered.

His death is not being treated as suspcious and an inquest is due to be opened at the Coroner's Court, Cockermouth, on July 27.
