Blur whip up Wolverhampton crowd during intimate gig
Britpop icons Blur played Wolverhampton's Newhampton Arts Centre to a lucky few last night.
Just 250 fortunate souls bagged tickets to get into the modest theatre tucked away inside the Dunkley Street venue – a far cry from the 750 million worldwide viewers that watched the band close the London Olympics in 2012.
The gig was held in aid of the arts centre.
Tickets sold out in seconds – leaving thousands of disappointed fans bombarding the centre with requests for entry.
Chris Brown, site manager at the NAC, said: "We've had a few big name bands play here over the years, but this one is a bit special."
The band played a mixture of new songs and classics such as Girls & Boys, Song 2 and The Universal.
