The driver of the other car – a man aged 34 – has been helping officers with their inquiries as they work to find out what caused the collision.

Sergeant Adam Green from the Regional Collision Investigation Unit said: "We are extremely saddened to learn that this crash has now claimed Amar's life and our thoughts are with his family at this time.

"Amar's family have selflessly made the decision that they wished for his organs to be donated to those who are in need of life saving treatment. They were determined that a tragic event for their family can be turned into a life changing event for others.

"The family, who are from Great Barr, have released a picture of Amar. They are understandably devastated by what has happened and have asked to be left in peace to grieve. Specialist officers will continue to liaise with Amar's parents throughout the investigation.

"As with any collision involving a fatality, a full investigation will now take place to establish the facts and I would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened and has not yet provided a statement."
