Pople travelling from Birmingham to London have been made to pay the most since 2010, a study has shown.

Thousands of Villa fans are expected to board trains to get to the game on Saturday.

Extra services have also been put on by both London Midland and Chiltern Railways to get fans to Wembley.

Supporters heading to the capital have been warned carriages will be extremely busy.

Services will be running from Birmingham at regular intervals as fans head to the final which kicks off at 5.30pm.

London Midland bosses have said no alcohol will be allowed on board its services to and from the game.

Rail users will be able to get on trains to London from the main stations including Birmingham New Street and Birmingham Moor Street.

London Midland is advising the Wembley-bound supporters to change trains at Harrow and Wealdstone.

Terry Oliver, London Midland's head of West Coast services, said: "Our advice to fans is plan ahead and allow plenty of time for your journey in case you need to wait for the next service."

To help ease the journey, the rail company is adding in extra stops at Wembley Central on a number of its services departing from Birmingham.

Fans are advised that an alternative option is to change trains at Harrow and Wealdstone station and catch London Overground rail services to Wembley Central.

After the game, London Midland's 7.40pm and 7.56pm services will call at Wembley Central for onward travel to Birmingham.

An alternative option for fans is to travel by London Overground services from Wembley Central to Harrow and Wealdstone, where fans can connect with London Midland trains to Birmingham New Street.

No Chiltern Railway services will serve Snow Hill Station before 1pm but the company is running additional services from Birmingham Moor Street.

Hardened Villa fans queued from the early hours earlier this month as they scrambled to snap up one of the precious 25,000 seats for the final.

Some arrived at 3.30am, with one group even bringing a disposal barbecue with which to cook breakfast.

Villa beat Liverpool 2-1 in the semi-final to make it to Wembley, with goals from Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph.
