There's no stopping him: Blind Dave Heeley's off... again!

He may have just completed a gruelling 160-mile marathon across the Sahara desert – but that didn't stopped Black Country fundraiser Blind Dave Heeley taking on another run only days later.

Charity champion Dave swapped the treacherous sand and hills of the desert for the picturesque Ironbridge half marathon course.

The event, which was held on Sunday and organised by Telford Harriers, attracted around 700 competitors, and Dave, from West Bromwich, said it was a lovely run to take part in.

"It was just nice to have no sand, no camels and no cliffs or mountains," he said.

"I went round and had a gentle jog round but did it basically as a leg loosener.

"I've done Ironbridge a few times now and it's a lovely half marathon. It's smashing to do it without any rainfall and they've changed the course a bit which is nice. It was well supported, well organised, and the weather was spot on.

"It's the first time we've done a half and been talking all the way round. We probably did it in around two hours."

There's no stopping Dave as the avid Baggies supporter will take part in the London Marathon on Sunday to continue his fundraising for the Albion Foundation.

"I've got the London Marathon this weekend, which will be interesting. And I shall be supporting the charity again.

"I love London, it's a lovely carnival place – the whole marathon is about the support, camaraderie and it's very well organised."
