Jez Moxey: Wolves fans with information on Watford fan attack must do 'right thing'
Jez Moxey has called on Wolves fans to help police catch the thugs who viciously assaulted Watford fan Nic Cruwys.
The Wolves' chief executive said those involved in the attack 'are not welcome at our club and not welcome in our city' as he urged fans to 'do the right thing' and come forward with information.
His comments come as Wolves rallied around police efforts to bring to book those responsible for the attack, which has left Mr Cruwys fighting for his life in hospital.
The 44-year-old father-of-two is still in critical condition after he was assaulted following Wolves game with Watford at Molineux on March 7.
In the match day programme for this week's game with Sheffield Wednesday at Molineux, Moxey wrote: "I am sure I am speaking for everyone, not only connected with the club but from the entire city in expressing our shock, sadness and indeed horror when we heard that such a sickening attack had taken place a short distance from Molineux.
"Our first thoughts go to Nic and his family who have had to come to terms with this dreadful ordeal over the last 10 days.
"We have spoken directly to Nic's family to pass on the best wishes of everyone, both from Wolves and within the local community, and our feelings of devastation that such a terrible incident has occurred within the city."
Moxey added that Wolves have been in daily contact with West Midlands Police over the incident.
He also gave a message to 'all right-minded Wolves supporters'.
He wrote: "I would urge you to come forward because those involved in this incident are not welcome at our club and not welcome in our city.
"Please do the right thing and do what you can to stop these people doing anything like this ever again."
Thousands of leaflets were handed out to fans before the game, while police appeals for assistance were announced over the PA during half time.
Writing in the match programme for this week's game with Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves boss Kenny Jackett said: "I'm sure that you are aware of the vicious attack on Watford fan Nic Cruwys shortly after our last home game.
"I am saddened and angered that such a thing happened and I would like to wish Nic a speedy recovery."
Donations continue to pour in to the Nic Cruwys' Future Football Fund, with the pot now approaching £35,000.
A total of 2,269 people have now donated £34,034 to support Mr Cruwys, who remains in critical condition in hospital.
So far five arrests have been made over the attack. An 18-year-old was held in Stafford on Monday, before being bailed. A 14-year-old who was arrested in Parkfields on Tuesday has also been bailed pending further inquiries.
Three other teenagers, two aged 18 and a 13-year-old were arrested last week and have been bailed.
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
