Puppies saved from Smethwick house fire
Firefighters rescued two puppies from a house after the occupant had fled the blaze.

The incident happened in Hales Lane, Smethwick at 12.45pm today and crews from Bournbrook and Kings Norton were called.
Neither the female occupant nor the dogs were injured during the fire, though crews remained on the scene for two hours to make sure it was safe and the fire was extinguished.
No other properties were evacuated during the fire.
