Man wanted by police after case stolen at Birmingham New Street

Police are searching for a man after a suitcase was stolen from a stationary train at Birmingham New Street.

Investigators have released images of a man they wish to speak to about the theft which took place on platform 3.

A man was seen entering the station with the silver suitcase before later leaving with a second suitcase matching the description later reported as missing.

Pc Tanya Dickinson said: "A man entered the station carrying a silver suitcase. He spent a few moments in the waiting room before boarding a stationary train on platform 3.

"He left the train a few moments later with his silver suitcase but also carrying a pink and orange one."

A short while after, a woman reported her pink and orange suitcase missing from the service.

"Following the incident we have carried out a number of enquiries including speaking to witnesses on board the train and viewing CCTV from the station and the surrounding area.

"We would like to hear from anyone who may recognise the man, or has any information about the incident."

The theft took place at around 10am on January 11.
