Woman 'more than lucky' to escape injury after falling beween train and platform at Birmingham New Street Station

A young woman has had a remarkable escape from injury after falling off a platform at Birmingham New Street as a train came into the station.

The incident happened at New Street Station in Birmingham at about 6.00pm.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "When ambulance staff arrived they found the woman, who was in her 20s, flat on her back between the railway line and the platform.

"Her left leg was bent back with the thigh against her body and the calf against the train.
