The thieves have struck five times in six days, each time while the double deckers were waiting at the terminus at the end of their route.

On each occasion, one or two men leapt on board and used a crow bar to prise free the cash box.

The number three service was first to be hit at the Broadlands bus park in Featherstone at 10.05pm on November 18.

Last Friday, there was another attack on the number one bus in School Road, Tettenhall, at 6.05pm that was followed by a carbon copy raid at the same location the following evening at 10.05pm.

Further cash boxes were stolen on Monday night, with the number six service targeted at Patsull Avenue, Fordhouses, at 9.50pm and another in Codsall an hour later.

Police believe the incidents are linked and are trawling CCTV from the buses and forensically examining a crowbar left behind at the scene of one of the thefts.
