The Norfolk club released a statement saying two male fans had been suspended from attending games at Carrow Road while the club investigates the matter.

It is believed that Dutch winger was targeted by travelling fans while he underwent treatment in front of the away section in the Steve Bull Lower during Sunday's televised game.

It was Norwich fans who brought the claims to the attention of stewards and both the Canaries and Molineux officials investigated the claims.

West Midlands Police has also launched an inquiry into the allegations saying it was working with the Championship clubs.

A statement published on City's website said: "Norwich City can confirm two male supporters have been suspended from attending games at Carrow Road, pending the outcome of the club's on-going investigation into allegations of racist abuse at last Sunday's Sky Bet Championship game against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

"As previously reported the club has received numerous complaints from Norwich supporters who were at the match and we would like to thank all of those who have come forward to provide detailed eye-witness accounts of the incident.

"We have passed our evidence on to police, who are also investigating the matter."
