The Nike Huarache trainer, which was first re-released last night online saw huge queues outside Footlocker in Dudley Street this morning from as early as 8.30am.

Reports said there was some jostling at the front of the queue as customers vyed for position.

Two shoppers smile with their new buys: Father Dave Perkins, 48, with his 13-year-old son Harley, of Wolverhampton

The trainer is believed to have been re-released due to public demand.

West Midlands Police have confirmed officers were called to the store at 10.15am to ensure order.

Dave Perkins, Wolverhampton, 48, said: "I've been here with my son since 8:30 this morning and the shop didn't even open till 9.30am.

"All this hassle over trainers is crazy but the kids are just mad for them.

"There was some trouble with a group of around five lads who were pushing to the front of the queue just as the store opened."Harley Perkins, Wolverhampton, 13: "I love Huaraches and didn't mind queuing to get them even though there was a bit of trouble. I got a pair for myself and a pair for my friend."

Warren Brooas, Wednesfield, 17: "Everywhere else has sold out and they will definitely all be gone here.

"You just have to look at the queue here to see how popular they are."

The trainer was originally released in 1991 by legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield with inspiration from Native American sandals.

The company says the trainers have been 'remastered with modern technology for cushioning and impact protection' and is 'designed to deliver a flexible and secure ride.'
