Woman injured after car and bus collide

A driver had to be taken to hospital after a crash involving a car and bus along a busy road in Walsall.

The smash happened along Bescot Road in Walsall near to the Wednesbury Road junction.

The woman driver from the Renault Clio suffered a shoulder injury and was taken by ambulance to Walsall Manor Hospital.

No-one from the National Express West Midlands bus was injured. However the front of the bus was damaged in the crash.

Police were called to the scene.

West Midlands Police spokeswoman Hilary Hopker said: "We were called by the ambulance service to reports of a car in collision with a bus.

"It happened at around 12.13pm in Bescott Road on Saturday.

"The woman in the Renault Clio was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital with a suspected shoulder injury. The road was cleared by 2.07pm."

West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman Claire Brown confirmed the woman was taken to the Manor Hospital adding: "We sent one ambulance to the scene."

Meanwhile a woman was taken to hospital after a three-car smash in Stafford today.

It happened along the Cannock Road near to Overhill Road at around 7.52am and involved an Hyundai Getz, Ford Fiesta and Nissan Micra.

The woman was taken to Stafford Hospital as a precaution.She suffered minor injuries.

The road was partially blocked while the vehicles were recovered.
