The Wharf 10 bar at Walsall Waterfront has had a new floor, and new sound and lighting equipment installed.

New operator CIC Estates bought the Wolverhampton Street venue in January.

Wharf 10 manager Adam Kennedy said: "We are giving it a £40,000 revamp because the place has got a bit tired and rundown.

"As part of the refurbishment there will be changes to the bar, new flooring, new sound and lighting, some painting and decorating is being carried out to give the place a new look.

"It was in a bit of a state when we came in, but it looks like a new venue now.

"We hope to pull in some new customers as a result."

The bar was the first development to be created at the Walsall Waterfront.

More than 700 supporters backed a petition to save the venue in 2007 after it emerged Walsall Council sold the land it sits on to developers Urban Splash.

Wharf 10 bosses at the bar previously leased by XS Entertainment called in solicitors to advise on its legal position over fears the landmark bar next to the New Art gallery Walsall could eventually be bulldozed.
