Woman taken to hospital after Birmingham smash

A woman was taken to hospital following a crash between a car and bus on a busy roundabout in Birmingham.

The accident happened at around 9.15am this morning at Salford Circus just off Junction 6 for Aston of the M6.

The woman, who was driving a Volkswagen Caddy, was taken by ambulance to Heartlands Hospital in Bordesley Green, Birmingham. She was suffering neck pain.

No-one else was injured.

Fire crews from Aston attended the scene to help make the vehicles safe.

Crew commander Leon Henry said: "When we got there, there was a woman inside the car.

"The people on the bus had already been evacuated by the time we got there. We were there for around 20 minutes."

West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman Claire Brown added: "We were called at 9.15am. An ambulance was sent to the scene.

"The driver of the car was suffering neck pain. She was taken to Heartlands Hospital."

Police closed the roundabout while recovery work took place.
