It was the celebrity wedding of the year. Simon Cowell marrying his bride Debbie Harry in front of David Beckham, Gordon Ramsay and Ricky Gervais. Well, almost.

Look a little closer and all is not as it seems – this was a love match between a pair of celebrity lookalikes.

Cowell doppelgänger Andy Monk wed Debbie Harry double Rose Cook at The Station Hotel in Dudley.

The nuptials caused staff members, guests and passers-by to do a double take and even sent one reaching for their autograph book.

Both regulars on the lookalikes scene, Rose and Andy first got together at a Motorhead concert in 2004, having previously met on the set of BBC show Doctors where they were working as extras.

But Rose, aged 43, said her new husband is nothing like his lookalike, who is known as TV's Mr Nasty for his straight-talking performances on Britain's Got Talent and X Factor.

"Andy is a really kind-hearted and loving man," she said.

"All our friends can see how much we love each other.

"It was love at first sight to be honest. He gave me his business card when we met on the set of Doctors and I just couldn't stop thinking about him.

"Then I saw him as a lookalike on Britain's Got Talent and I thought 'oh my God it's him."

Rose, who has been performing as a Blondie tribute act herself for 20 years, added she could tell he was a Simon Cowell lookalike when they first met.

"And when we got chatting I just thought what a lovely man," she said.

The pair wed in front of a crowd of celebrity lookalike friends who they have met throughout the years. Among them was a Taylor Swift lookalike, footballer David Beckham and comic Ricky Gervais.

Andy and Rose had been together for nine years before tying the knot on Saturday.

Andy, aged 54, and of Nottingham, said: "It's not many people who can boast having David Beckham, Gordon Ramsay and Ricky Gervais at their wedding.

"Some of the hotel staff took a double take when everyone walked into the reception. Me and Rose have been working with the other lookalikes for many years and we're all close friends."

Staff at the hotel said rumours had been flying around that a lot of celebrities had arrived for Simon Cowell's secret wedding.

A barman at the hotel said: "One member of staff got her autograph book ready so it was hilarious when they turned out to be lookalikes.

"To be honest, they were all lovely and probably a much better laugh than the real celebs would have been."

Andy has appeared on TV playing Simon Cowell's double and will be playing the music mogul in a new film about the life of Paul Potts, the first winner of Britain's Got Talent. The film will also star comedian James Corden and Black Country actress Julie Walters.

Meanwhile, Rose has been performing as rock legend Debbie Harry for the past two decades and has appeared as a TV extra too.

Earlier this year, the couple trekked along the Great Wall of China, taking on an average of 38 miles a day for the Breast Cancer Campaign.

They raised thousands for the charity, which is a cause close to both their hearts.

It seems life could be imitating art for Cowell, as rumours abound that he is planning to pop the question to his girlfriend and mother of his first child Lauren Silverman. Multi-millionaire Cowell, known for his love of high trousers and white T shirts, has said he is ecstatic at the prospect of becoming a father. News broke in July that Cowell was expecting with Silverman.

Speaking at the time he said: "I'm proud to be a dad. "It's something I haven't thought of before, and then, now I know I feel good about it." American singer songwriter Harry, now aged 68, is still touring with Blondie.
