Sporting landmarks voted to take pride of place on Wolverhampton Monopoly board
The first set of landmarks to feature on a new Monopoly board of Wolverhampton have today been unveiled.
Molineux, Wolves Speedway and Wolverhampton Racecourse Dunstall Park will all make up the orange section of the board, its creators have announced.
Molineux, the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, tops the set and will carry the highest value in the group. The board is being released on October 9 and creators have also given a sneak peek of what the box containing the board will look like.
A total of 22 Wolverhampton landmarks will feature in the game, replacing the traditional properties such as Mayfair, Trafalgar Square and Park Lane.
In the London version of the game, the orange group is made up of Vine Street, Marlborough Street and Bow Street.
But for Wolverhampton, it will be the three sporting sites. Dan Taylor, head of custom games at Winning Moves UK, who are producing the board under official license from Monopoly owners Hasbro, said: "The orange section is the most landed on part of the board so congratulations to all three. More than 2,000 landmarks, streets or roads could potentially have appeared on the board. Realistically around 220 were in the running so many congratulations to the owners of this set."
News of the Wolverhampton Monopoly board was announced earlier this year and people were invited to vote on which city properties should feature. West Park has already been unveiled as the Old Kent Road of the board. Mr Taylor added: "Without the public's support this unique and official board could not have been produced."
Wolverhampton Monopoly will launch at 10am on October 9 and it will go on sale online at in shops across the city. On November 1, the city will also host its first ever Monopoly championship played on the new board.
