Sandwell car parking charges are sent rocketing
Parking charges were being introduced at 19 sites across Sandwell today while fees elsewhere in the borough have been doubled.

Motorists leaving their vehicles in central West Bromwich will see charges rise from 40p per hour to 80p per hour, and from 20p to 40p per hour at parks outside the town.
In addition charges have been brought in at car parks in Cradley Heath, Old Hill, Smethwick and Great Bridge.
It is also proposed to restrict the maximum period of waiting to four hours in the car parks at Market Place and Lower High Street in Cradley Heath.
The council has said it has no option to increase the charges to balance the books.
