The site has been refurbished and 17 buses have been upgraded as part of the project.

Arriva Midlands bought the operations and assets of Midlands, the trading name of Liyell Ltd, based in Planetary Road, Wednesfield.

It saw 110 employees transfer to the new firm, with 61 buses incorporated into the Arriva fleet. The depot has now been unveiled by Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Christine Mills.

The work carried out on the site includes the refurbishment of 17 single and double-decker buses and a new bus wash facility. And one of the bus routes has been changed to coincide with the opening.

As part of the changes, from April 27 the number 19 route from Walsall to Bloxwich and route 560 from Bloxwich to Wolverhampton will be combined, and will also pass through New Cross Hospital.

Alex Perry, regional managing director at Arriva Midlands, said: "We are delighted to have given the Wednesfield garage a new lease of life, and think the local community will certainly be able to notice the difference in the services as we begin to roll out the refurbished buses across the Black Country. The rebuild represents a significant investment."
