Post office moving and extending hours
A busy post office in Walsall will close and move to a new home next week in a change that will see its opening hours extended by more than 60 hours a week.
Fullbrook Post Office in Broadway will close on November 15 before re-opening 820ft away at the new Co-op store being built on the corner of Hawes Road. The move is part of a major modernisation programme across the Post Office network. It aims to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and sites in supermarkets.
The new branch will open on November 19 at the Co-op store.
There will be a mixture of open plan and traditional screened counter positions and it will be in operation between 7am and 10pm. The opening times at its current base are 9am to 5.30pm on weekdays and 9am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.
Adrian Wales, Post Office regional network manager, said: "We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in this part of Walsall and we are confident that this new modern Post Office will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
"This is an exciting time for the Post Office.
"This move is part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6,000 branches – about half the Post Office network – converting to new-style branches.
"This investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes."
