A boy of 10 was allegedly kidnapped as he walked to a shop and kept against his will before being dramatically freed by police.

The youngster, from Oldbury, was reportedly found in a flat with his arms bound and a white sheet wrapped around his body after a two-hour search.

Detectives said the alarm had been raised by a family member yesterday at around 9.15am, sparking a major search.

But after a resident's help, police swooped on a property in Gravity Mews, off Bristnall Hall Road and took the boy, who is not thought to have been injured, to safety.

Today three men aged 49, 30 and 48 were under arrest on suspicion of kidnap. They were arrested in Tividale a short time after the discovery of the boy at around 11.30am.

West Midlands Police spokeswoman Keiley Gartland said: "We are working closely with the family and local community and will update them as this high priority investigation continues."
