Props and memorabilia from famous science fiction TV shows and films including Doctor Who and Star Wars are set to go on show at a Black Country museum.

From Tuesday visitors to Wednesbury Museum and Art Gallery will be able to see original models from Doctor Who, including Davros and Daleks, along with collectables from the Star Wars films.

Stuart Lane, development officer at the museum, said: "The items that will be on display belong to a gentleman named Nigel Parkes, who is allowing us to show his private collection. We have many original Doctor Who props, including a Cyberman helmet signed by Tom Baker.

"There are six full size Daleks including Davros and other full size models from both the old and new series.

"There is also some Star Wars memorabilia including a full size Darth Vader costume. Other collectables, including old games from the 60s and 70s will also be on show."

The exhibition will remain at the museum until mid-June.

Items on display will change throughout the five month show, with Darth Vader replaced by a Darth Maul costume at the end of March among the changes that will take place.

In addition to the exhibition there will be a Meet the Daleks day on February 22 along with regular craft workshops and quizzes.
