Foley tipped for bright future

Kidderminster manager Mark Yates has earmarked young midfielder Sam Foley as "one for the future" after his new contract offer.

The 22-year-old was the surprise name in the list of players offered new deals at Aggborough as the 'retained' list was published last week, after only playing a bit-part role in his first season with Harriers.

He even ended up out on loan at the back end of the campaign under manager Dean Holdsworth at Blue Square South outfit Newport County, but his performances in Wales appear to have rejuvenated the former Cheltenham trainee.

Now he could have a major part to play, with the future of many of the players who were in front of him at his parent club set to be released at the end of the month - if the Irishman himself signs a new deal.

Yates said: "We have always liked Sam, he needed games so that's he went to Newport during the season - he enjoyed and did well down there. Myself and my staff monitored his progress and it has been noted.

"He could be one for the future, whether we get him tied down here for another season or not remains to be seen. We are still speaking him and he knows where he stands, he has been offered a deal.

"Hopefully he will remain with us for next season."
