Caretaker Schofield leaves Walsall

Walsall have announced they have parted company with caretaker manager John Schofield, and are set to unveil their new manager this morning.

The 43-year-old was brought in as assistant manager by former boss Jimmy Mullen and took charge of the 1-0 defeat at Peterborough on Saturday after Mullen's sacking last week.

A club statement said: "John Schofield has today been relieved of his duties as Caretaker Manager and the club would like to place on record our appreciation for his work, since arriving at the Banks's Stadium in the summer."
