Thousands of car fans slipped into top gear for an annual event at a Midland park.

More than 1,000 classic vehicles were on show at the 14th annual Cars in the Park event over the weekend at Beacon Park in Lichfield.

These included a range of vehicles from the 1940s, 50s, 60s and 70s. Organised by the Rotary Club of Lichfield St Chad, the family event featured a display by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue, a karate demonstration, and a range of pre-war vehicles.

The free show also featured trade stalls and stands provided by local car dealers. A range of dedicated clubs were showcasing their specialist vehicles.

Money raised from donations at the event will go to the British Heart Foundation and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

The show has grown massively in size since it began in 1997 with fewer than 50 classic cars. Organiser Ian Hodgson said 62 clubs booked to take part in this year's event.
