Liam Payne and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini back in Wolverhampton for wedding
Pop superstar Cheryl chose to fade to grey when she joined Liam Payne on a trip home to Wolverhampton for his sister's wedding.
The X Factor judge made sure she did not upstage bride Ruth on her big day, opting for a grey understated, ankle-length frock. Even her make-up was simple and light.
Gossip columns were filled with chatter about the wedding and whether or not 32-year-old Cheryl was invited ahead of the event on Saturday. But she was spotted in the city alongside Bushbury-born Liam as he donned a traditional three-piece morning suit.
Liam, aged 22, had a blue tie and pocket square in line with the colours of groom, Thomas Gibbins, who wore a dark navy suit and blue tie.
The wedding took place in Tettenhall Wood at the United Reformed Church on Mount Road, before heading up to Brewood in South Staffordshire for the reception at Somerford Hall.
The 25-year-old bride wore a stunning, strapless white gown as she took the arm of father Geoff into the church down the aisle.
Ruth, Liam's older sister, studied at the City of Wolverhampton College and is one of two Payne sisters alongside Nicola. Her close bond with her brother and her tweets about reality television have helped to propel her to a celebrity status of her own as she closes in on one million followers on Twitter – currently on 997,000.
Hednesford-based Platinum Wedding Cars took to Twitter when pictures from the wedding began to emerge.
They tweeted: "Great to be part of the wedding of Ruth and Tom yesterday, such a lovely family, we even made the papers. . . .'
Liam, who now lives in Surrey, is currently working on solo material after the quartet of One Direction went on an official break . He officially announced the relationship with former Girls Aloud star Cheryl back in December.
For parents Geoff and Karen, who wore massive smiles as they watched their daughter Ruth tie the knot this weekend, it presented them with a chance to see their son.
Mr Payne previously told the Express & Star: "We've seen more of him outside the country than we have in England."
