The Jam's Paul Weller spotted in Staffordshire
The Jam's Paul Weller made an appearance in Staffordshire, posing for a photograph while taking a break during shooting for a new soundtrack.
Weller, along with Ray Winstone, were in Stoke to film the new boxing flick, Jawbone.
Weller has agreed to compose the soundtrack for the film, which also stars Johnny Harris, Michael Smiley and Ian McShane.
All the big names descended on the former factory for location shots in around the building. This picture shows Weller alongside Alison Dalgarno.
Jawbone, produced by EMU Films and Revolution Films, will be directed by Thomas Napper and follows former youth boxing champion Jimmy McCabe, played by Harris.
McCabe, after hitting rock bottom, returns to his childhood boxing club and his old team, including gym owner Bill, played by Winstone, and cornerman Eddie, played by Smiley.
In addition to having The Jam's former frontman on the soundtrack, the film also draws on more UK talent with famed boxer Barry McGuigan and trainer Shane McGuigan working as consultants for the film.
Spode's Lower China Hall has been transformed into a boxing gym complete with full-size ring for the shoot and both McGuigans helped trained up Harris who, like Winston, was a successful amateur boxer.
Staffordshire street artist RIP Smith was also lucky enough to meet Winstone, who signed a copy of his canvas portrait, which will be sold off for a charity auction in May.
Stoke-on-Trent has previously been used for the set of She Who Brings Gifts, which was shot in Hanley.
A release date for Jawbone has yet to be confirmed.
