Fans were left puzzled last night after Wolverhampton's Liam Payne appeared to have lost his Midland accent at the BRIT Awards.

The singer, who went to school in Tettenhall, collected the British Artist Video award at the ceremony, alongside Louis Tomlinson, after their band One Direction was granted the accolade.
