It's Friday afternoon, what's on your mind?

I'll probably be looking forward to going out for sushi with my family, which my wife particularly enjoys. We have no staff at our home during the weekend, so it's everyone for himself. When it turns cold, we'll be digging ourselves out of our cabin in Lake Tahoe.

Who normally has the pleasure of your company at the weekend?

My family. We run three offices out of the house and Whitesnake is a Monday-to-Friday business, than runs for 24 hours a day. My wife also runs a studio down in the village, so we have a very full agenda. But when the weekend comes, we stick around together. We maintain a good balance between work and downtime.

How do you prepare for a big night out?

I shower, get out of my pyjamas and put on my favourite civilian outfit.

What is your favourite dinner party outfit?

Hey, you've all seen the way I dress?!

You've just arrived at the bar. What's your first drink?

A glass of dry white wine.

What is your favourite nightspot and why?

When I'm in London I'd go down to Marco Pierre White's place, we were friends way back.

What tune always gets you on the dancefloor?

Jailhouse Rock by Elvis Presley.

It's a sunny Saturday. What are you up to?

We go down to one of the private beaches on the lake. I have a teenage son and encourage him to honour the weekend. We try to get away from tweeting and being online.

What's the recipe for a perfect night in?

We have a theatre cinema in the house, it's a pretty happening place. I'm a paid up member of BAFTA, so we get movies sent to us. I adored Colin Firth in the King's Speech and I loved The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

What's your most memorable weekend ever and why?

All of my most memorable times were when my children were young. I've been blessed with extraordinary success for 40 years, but the best times are with my family.

Favourite DVD? And what would you eat while watching it?

I'm going through a great period with my son, who is a very mature 15. We sit down and watch movies together, enjoying normal popcorn treats. We just enjoyed The Bourne Trilogy, he adored it and I got recharged too.

Sunday breakfast – cooked or continental?

On Sundays we go out for breakfast.

Where and how do you like to relax?

At home, always at home.

You've got a weekend off and a wad of money in your back pocket – which country or city would you head to?

I like to go to Lisbon but I also love Newcastle, New York, Tokyo, London and a bunch of other places: take your pick.
