It's time to deck the halls and share festive joy
Giant glowing snowmen, twinking lights and trees decked out in hundreds of sparkling baubles – homeowners and pub landlords across the Black Country and Staffordshire are producing some dazzling displays in the run up to Christmas.
In a bid to unearth the most striking festive arrangements the Express & Star is calling on you to send us your best pictures.
The Summer House pub in Gospel End Road in Sedgley has a long running tradition of spectacular shows of Christmas lights. It was something that new licensee Karen Kennedy was keen to maintain when she took over in October.
This year's display is based on themes from the hit Disney film Frozen, and features a giant 17ft Olaf the snowman towering over the main entrance, a trading post and an ice mountain. A dedicated 'Frozen Corner' takes pride of place inside the pub.
The extravagant display took three workmen two weeks of round-the-clock graft to complete. Mrs Kennedy, aged 39, who previously worked at the pub as a barmaid for 16 years, said: "The tradition is very popular here and it was something I wanted to carry on.
"We normally spend six weeks getting everything ready but because I only took over last month we had a bit of a mad rush.
"The response from customers has been tremendous. The kids really love it."
Pensioner Keith Blackford is another who has decorated his home in Norbury Crescent, Lanesfield, Wolverhampton, in festive fashion for years. The 73-year-old and his grandson John are due to start work next week on their annual project to put up 90ft of rope lights and erect two artificial Christmas trees shrouded in well over 1,000 bulbs.
Mr Blackford said: "People always say how the sight of the house covered in lights makes them happy. I always get excited about Christmas and this is my way of sharing that excitement."
