A firm that runs dozens of pubs and social clubs across the Midlands has gone into administration.

Zolfo Cooper was appointed joint administrators of Calco Pubs Limited due to "difficult market conditions".

Three workers were made redundant at the firm's head office in Birmingham on Thursday but the impact on other staff is unclear.

Nick Cropper, of Zolfo Cooper, said the immediate plan was to continue trading.

Calco owns and operates 79 pubs across the Midlands and north of England and has run venues including the Bulls Head in Birmingham Street, Oldbury, and the Bridge Cross Working Men's Club in Burntwood.

No-one from Calco was available for comment.
