A schoolboy returned from his ninth birthday party to find crooks had stolen his presents and ransacked his home.

Bayley Moore was devastated to discover his bedroom had been turned upside down by burglars who broke in through a back door of the house in Stanley Street, Bloxwich, Walsall, on Tuesday. He had out with friends to the cinema and a celebratory meal at McDonald's.

The Blakenall Heath Junior school pupil returned to find his new Playstation 3 console and a number of computer games had been stolen, as well as cash in birthday cards and jewellery from elsewhere in the house.

Grandmother Deborah Lavin, aged 47, appealed to those responsible to return the gifts.

She said: "It's scared him half to death and he's absolutely distraught. He hasn't stopped shaking since it happened. The police said they think it's someone who saw them all going out and decided to take their chance.

"It wasn't that late, so someone must have seen them. Hopefully, they will have a conscience when they see who they have taken this from."

Bayley said: "It made me feel really sad. I just want them to bring it all back."

West Midlands Police spokeswoman Jaspreet Jagdev said: "Officers are investigating a burglary in Stanley Street on February 2.

"A number of items were stolen including games consoles."
