Olsson plays down angry exchange

Albion defender Jonas Olsson has played down his angry exchange with fans at Coventry by insisting the clash was 'no big deal.'

The vice-captain lost his temper with a handful of supporters in the wake of Saturday's goalless draw at Coventry, claiming 'bad gestures' were aimed in his direction.

But the Swede has now attempted to diffuse any ill-feeling and blamed the incident on raw emotions in the immediate aftermath of the game.

He said: "It was nothing. It is just me. I am very emotional, it wasn't a big thing for me and I hope it wasn't a big thing for them.

"I was applauding the fans because I thought they put up a good effort. There are always a few who say things, it's understandable that they were disappointed and we are not happy.

"The support we had was good with a few thousand going there and there was just a bit of emotion from me after the game. We are as disappointed as they are after losing two points."

Olsson went to applaud the 4,000 travelling fans at the final whistle, but a small number of supporters responded by venting their anger at the central defender.

He said: "I was applauding 99.9 per cent of them. When I go over and applaud them they don't have to applaud back, but they don't have to make bad gestures."
