Former Woolies back with bargains

Shoppers in the Black Country are celebrating after having their old Woolies store replaced with a new Argos.

The former Woolworths store in 88-89 Church Street, Bilston, is now home to Argos, which has been relocated from 55-57 Church Street.

The move has also helped create 25 new jobs.

The shop has been upgraded from a 'call and collect' service, to stocking the full choice of products, with a brand new jewellery and watch gallery.

The official opening was marked with the cutting of a ribbon by managers and staff.

Town crier Percy Simmons was the special guest, helping to raise funds for the chain's charity partner, the British Heart Foundation. The opening marks the return of The Chad Valley toy collection, bought from Woolworths earlier this year.

Store manager Jason Bloor said: "We are very excited to be upgrading the existing Argos store and bringing a fuller range of products to the people of Bilston.

"Equipped with a team of highly trained and motivated staff, the store will provide a full and thorough service to locals.

"We are also looking forward to getting involved with the local schools and wider community in the upcoming months," added Mr Bloor.
