Standards can't drop warns Berra

Christophe Berra has warned Wolves - "Drop our standards and we'll be in trouble against Charlton."

Berra has been part of a new-look rock-solid Wolves defence, alongside veteran Jody Craddock that hasn't conceded goal in three games.

But he warned Wolves face something of a test of the unknown tomorrow against Championship's basement side.

Charlton have little but pride to play for having been cut adrift 12 points from safety at the bottom, but they still forced a 2-2 draw at Wolves title rivals Reading on Tuesday and Berra believes that should act as a warning.

Berra said: "We know it will be a tough game. They've just drawn at Reading, who are a top team with plenty of Premier League experience.

"There are no easy games in this league and if we drop our standards we'll be in trouble.

"We've got to keep those standards high."

Having played seven games for Wolves since his £2.3million move from Scottish side Hearts, Berra believes the Championship is tougher than the SPL.

He said: "There are more competitive teams in the Championship and more teams with individual players who can change games.

"On any given day any team in the league can beat anyone else, whether at the top or the bottom.

"It's no disrespect to the standard in Scotland, because there are some very good teams up there, but the level down here has been an eye-opener.

"But that will only help me improve and take me on to the next level."

Berra, 24, has improved significantly since his first Wolves start but insists the tighter defending has been a team effort.

He added: "It's been good to keep clean sheets in the last three games, but that's not just down to the defence."
