A mother from Willenhall downed so much vodka "most people would have died" from the alcohol levels before being arrested by police, a court heard.

Tracey Bridges, of Webster Road, consumed four-and-a-half litres of vodka but the 40-year-old was still conscious and swearing and shouting at officers as they arrested her in Wright Street, Bilston.

Bridges appeared at Walsall Magistrates Court yesterday where she was told to continue with an alcohol treatment order for a further six months to ensure she deals with her problems with alcohol. She was ordered to pay £60 costs.

She had already pleaded guilty to drunk and disorderly behaviour on February 6 at an earlier hearing.

Magistrates chairman Andrew Hoskins said: "You drank over a gallon of vodka. Most people would have died having consumed that amount of alcohol let alone manage to behave in a way like you did."

Bridges told police that she had downed the gallon of vodka because she was having personal problems.
