Wolves snap up West Ham winger

Wolves have completed the loan signing of West Ham winger Kyel Reid for the rest of the season.

Both clubs have agreed the move and the 21-year-old was due to train with his new team-mates this afternoon.

Reid knows the Championship well, having just finished a seven-match spell at Blackpool, where he played against Wolves. The Londoner becomes Wolves' first signing of the January transfer window, after Alan Gow's move broke down last week.

Reid, who has played three games for West Ham, has also made 26 appearances on loan for Barnsley and two in a temporary stint for Crystal Palace.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: "Mick has been looking for cover in wide areas for some time. After losing Alan Gow, he decided to move for Kyel."

Boss Mick McCarthy has been scouring the market for wide cover, ever since losing Carlos Edwards back to Sunderland and had targeted Gow, only for the Rangers man to fail a medical after the clubs had agreed a £250,000 fee.

McCarthy and assistant Terry Connor were also in the stands to watch Oldham winger Chris Taylor in the Latics' win over Huddersfield on Monday night.

But there is nothing in speculation to say Wolves are making a £1m bid for the 22-year-old, who has played over 150 games for Oldham. Neither is there anything in reports of Wolves interest in Ipswich defender Alex Bruce.
