Wolves legend Steve Bull advises Michael Mancienne to enjoy his potential England debut and believes he can still stay in the international fold while at Molineux.

The 20-year-old on-loan Chelsea youngster is the surprise inclusion in national coach Fabio Capello's friendly squad to face Germany in Berlin tonight.

If Mancienne should feature against the Germans, he would become the first player actively in a Wolves shirt to feature for the full England team since Bully himself, his first cap against Scotland in May 1989.

The all-time Molineux record goalscorer won 13 caps in the end, scoring four goals, and knows more than most what Mancienne will experience.

He said: "It is like then-Wolves manager Graham Turner said to me at the time, I would tell Michael to just go out and enjoy himself.

"I was a third division striker back then and I couldn't believe I was pulling on an England shirt.

"It was an unbelievable experience. Whether you play for Wolves or whoever, the feeling is always the same no matter who you are."

Mancienne's call up to the England fold, without a single Premier League appearance, has led to questions from some quarters whether he is ready.

Bully is happy to give his own take on the points raised.

He said: "This is not a joke call up. This is to give Michael a taste of the senior set up and spur him on for the years to come.

"Michael has that talent to take it from there."

Another question arising from Mancienne's inclusion is whether the recent interest in the young stopper will lead to Premier League suitors in the not too distant future.

Such a situation could compromise his current situation at Molineux, with current loan terms set to expire on December 29.

Bully believes that the youngster can continue to receive full international recognition – despite Wolves' Championship standing.

He said: "I think he can continue to do that. He is doing that and, to be fair, Wolves are top of the league at the moment.

"We are only one place behind Albion, so it can't be bad!"
