Rang-A-Tang ring true for Sir Terry

A Black Country-based band joined forces with Sir Terry Wogan today to showcase a Children in Need charity album which features a song that members penned in tribute to the veteran Radio 2 breakfast show presenter.

The cheery track entitled Very Terry Wogan was written by Rang-A-Tang, who this morning met with their favourite showbiz celebrity at the disc's official launch in London.

It is one of 18 tracks to feature on the album called Bandaged, five of which involve Rang-A-Tang.

Very Terry Wogan lyrics include: "Wake up in the morning, listen to the radio. I can't stop yawning, Oh I don't really wanna go. But the sound of the cheer on the breakfast show gets me motivated so go man go."

Band members Darren Noden, aged 37, of Mill Croft in Bilston; Mike Craine, 45, of Strathmore Crescent in Wombourne; Will Hall, 18, of High Green, Cannock, and Ritchie Hynes, of Blakeley Avenue in Tettenhall, wrote the song to mark 70-year-old Sir Terry's services to entertainment.

"I thought these boys have some cheek but I am going to play it anyway," enthused Sir Terry, who played the tune live on his Radio 2 breakfast show Wake up to Wogan.

"They are terrific boys. They can do anything. They play about four instruments each. They are so talented."

Rang-A-Tang frontman Mike said: "We have always dedicated at least one gig a year to a local charity in Wolverhampton, but this year we are putting all our energy and resources into Children in Need."
