Counting Crows have been forced to postpone their December UK Tour, including a date at Birmingham's LG Arena, due to unexpected personal and work commitments in the USA.

Tour dates have been re-scheduled and all tickets are valid for the new dates. They will now play at the LG Arena on Wednesday May 13, 2009.

In an official statement, the band said: "We are really so sorry that due to a variety of circumstances we have had to postpone our dates in December and disappoint all our British fans.

"However, we have re-scheduled our tour and look forward to seeing you all in May 2009.

"It's great that Wembley Arena is sold out and as a bonus we are adding a Brixton Academy show for an even more close up and personal Counting Crows intimate London show.

"We're planning some really special UK shows and look forward to seeing everyone."

Counting Crows were the first band in the O2 Wireless Festival's four-year history to perform in front of a sell-out crowd in London's Hyde Park.

The Californian band has had a host of multiple platinum albums and Top 10 chart placings worldwide. They have been a huge presence in the music world; from initial hit single Mr Jones to 2005's Accidentally In Love from the Shrek 2 soundtrack which saw them perform at the Academy Awards.

Their latest album, Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings, saw the band split their musical personality with the rock Saturday Nights produced by Gil Norton (of Pixies and Foo Fighters fame) whilst the more acoustic Sunday Mornings portion sees Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron and Wine) at the desk.

Under the banner Counting Crows – Live from Hyde Park, ticket buyers will be offered a link to download five free live tracks of Counting Crows' spectacular live performance from their recent headlining appearance at their sell-out date at the O2 Wireless Festival in Hyde Park, London.

* Counting Crows play at Birmingham's LG Arena on Wednesday May 13, 2009. Tickets are £33.50 plus booking fee.

Tickets for the Brixton Academy gig, priced £35, will go on sale on Friday November 14, 2008 at 9am.
