Blues shrugged off their home defeat by Blackpool last week to pick up three points as they chase top spot.

Wolves had stretched their advantage at the head of the table with their early afternoon win over Bristol City.

Blues were undeterred, bagging an early goal through James McFadden before soaking up Cardiff's pressure and then landing the killer blow when Quincy Owusu-Abeyie scored against the run of play.

Ross McCormack's late goal for the home team was not enough.
