Earthquake rocks the country

The biggest earthquake in the UK for nearly 25 years has shaken homes across large parts of England including the West Midlands.

It struck just before 1am this morning.

The British Geological Survey said the earthquake was of the magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter Scale and the epicentre was near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire.

The West Midlands was hit by an earthquake in 2002 in the Dudley area that reached a magnitude of 5.0.
