Torrential downpours during the weekend left the New Road cricket ground and racecourse in Pitchcroft submerged beneath the flooded River Severn.
Water was today lapping at the flood defence barriers which were erected on Friday and Agency officials warned today that with more rain forecast they would be staying up until the situation had subsided.
People living and working near the River Severn in Worcestershire were told that a Flood Watch was in operation.
The Flood Watch was introduced on Friday and officials said there was still the possibility of flooding to low-lying land in the area.
Although barriers were erected in Worcester and Upton-upon-Severn, Bewdley escaped the worst.
So far the barriers for Bewdley have not been deployed but officials said they were "closely monitoring he situation in case of need".
Michelle Dolphin, spokesman for the Environment Agency, said: "We are expecting a lot more rain to fall during the week. Although there are no plans at the moment to put up the barriers at Bewdley we will be monitoring the situation closely.
"There is the possibility that if there is more rain we could reassess whether to erect the barriers in the town but so far no decision has been made.
"It is under constant review although today in Worcester and elsewhere along the River Severn water levels are falling."
