Wolves eased to a 4-1 win over Shrewsbury reserves yesterday as owner Steve Morgan kept a watching brief at the New Meadow.

A strong Wolves second string included summer signings Darren Ward and Matt Jarvis - who looked sharp and set up two goals as he pushed hard for a debut against Charlton on Saturday.

It was the winger's jinking run and pass that teed up Liam Hughes to open the scoring in the first half.

And the young striker was at it again minutes later as he found space in the box to smash past Shrews 'keeper Ryan Esson.

Denes Rosa continued his fine run of form in the reserves with the third goal just after the restart when he latched on to Jarvis' header and drove past Esson.

The impressive Jay Bothroyd could have added a fourth when he picked up on more good work from Jarvis but he smashed against the post after some neat footwork took him away from his marker.

The ball rebounded to Hughes, but he couldn't control his shot and he fired straight into the arms of Esson.

Bothroyd did get his goal when Lee Collins set him free on 75 minutes - firing a smarth finish past the hosts' goal for a fourth.

Jimmy Ryan's late shot was a consolation for the Shrews.

Wolves: Billy Lumley, Mark Little, Lee Collins, Mark Salmon, Darren Ward, Tom Spalding, Elliott Bennett, Denes Rosa (James Davis), Jay Bothroyd (Kyle Bennett), Liam Hughes, Matt Jarvis (David Ijaha).

Subs: Richard Woolley, Danny Bath.
